Katz Kreationz - designing gorgeous unique items from PUL!

Katz Kreationz is another of our wonderful WAHM customers.  The store is run by Katherine and the items she makes are amazing!
Katherine takes cotton PUL  and turns it into wonderful bags and other gorgeous items.

Katherine is a stay at home mother of 3 boys. Between looking after them and the house she LOVES to sew, scrapbook, crochet, paint, make jewellery.... and basically anything artsy and crafty. She loves nothing better than receiving special requests to make unique items, which she loves doing.
Katherine now has an online store where she sells her gorgeous items, pop by and have a look!

From a hobby to a work at home business

When I started my business almost 6 years ago I never imagined it would grow like it has. I never thought I was going to be a business running from home, I thought it would always remain my hobby

When I started my business, it wasn't a business - it was just a hobby.  I was selling to a few friends a product I was passionate about, I was 'sharing the love' so to speak.  It wasn't long before others shared the love too and before I knew it more and more people were requesting my items, my hobby turned into a business in a matter of weeks.

I remember my first large purchase, I spent around $500 and was quaking in my boots scared I'd made a huge mistake and I would lose all my money.

See this tub -

I had six of these and that is what my stock was in when I first started.  I was so happy to have so much stock.  I had each tub labelled so I didn't have to dig through them to find the stock that was ordered.

This picture below is what I have these days, not tubs but shelves and a whole warehouse full of fabric.  Since this photo has been taken my stock needs have grown once again and we are now looking at more shelving options.  If you look closely you can still see those little tubs being put to good use for smaller items!

So what is the meaning of this blog post you say?

I wanted to show others that they too can start something that is a hobby and turn that hobby into a work at home business.  You don't need much - just a passion for what you do, a few tubs and a smile on your face!

Pocket Rocket Nappies

Amanda is our first work at home mum (wahm) that you get to meet :)

Amanda is a stay at home mum to a toddler and she has another baby on the way. Amanda started making her own MCN's for her son, then started giving them away as baby shower gifts and to friends with new babies.

Amanda then decided to have a go at selling her creations on Ebay and on her Facebook page. She loves sewing and creating cute nappies and covers that will have people asking "Where did you get that?" She also loves the fact that by using cloth nappies she is doing her bit for the environment and is also saving money for more important things.

We'd love you to pop past Amanda's Face Book page and have a look at her creations.

The fabrics Amanda has used are -

Blue Nappy - Michael Miller Monobots 2 mil cotton PUL with Saturn Blue FOE

Green Nappy - Camo Frogs 2 mil cotton PUL with Black FOE

The nappy directory - what is it all about?

This blog was my original blog for the Nappies Covered store. It has suffered from neglect since I switched over stores, the new one supporting word press blogs where I now run my store based blog from.

I thought about deleting this one but then had a brain wave! What if I use this blog to help promote those who buy their items from me! What a great idea and what a wonderful way to spread the word on who is out there and what they are making.

A lot of my customers are work at home mums, and getting your name and product into the face of the public is hard.....so I'm keeping this blog as a place to 'direct' the public to some of the best fabrics and products around...hence the name -

Nappies Covered - Nappy Directory.

I can't wait to showcase all of my talented customers. If you are one of them, send me an email at jodie @ nappiescovered . com .au (minus the spaces) and some images and we'll take it from there!
